15 January 2004 · Delegated
Ballapaddag, Cooil Road, Douglas, Isle Of Man, IM4 2af
Permission was granted for an extension to the existing storage and distribution depot at Ballapaddagh, Cooil Road, Douglas, operated by H Richmond Ltd. The site is the curtilage of Robinsons fruit and vegetable packing and packaging plant on the southern side of the A24. The officer noted that the new building would be clearly visible from Cooil Road, though some planting had been introduced between the road and the extension. It would also be visible from Richmond Hill at a greater distance. Despite this visibility, the site was considered to be an established industrial location and the proposal was not judged to harm its character. The application was approved under delegated powers by the Director of Planning, with three conditions attached.
The application was approved by the Director of Planning under delegated powers. The site is an established industrial location and the officer concluded that the extension would not detract from its existing industrial character, even though the new building would be visible from Cooil Road and, at a greater distance, from Richmond Hill. Some planting was noted between the road and the extension.
