18 March 2004 · Delegated
Ballapaddag, Cooil Road, Douglas, Isle Of Man, IM4 2af
This application sought amendments to a previously approved storage building at Ballapaddagh, Cooil Road, Douglas, on the site of Robinsons' packing and packaging plant. The application caused initial difficulty during assessment because the submitted drawings were considered unintelligible. A further drawing was submitted in February 2004, but it was only on closer review that the officer understood the plans were not for an extension to the existing building, but for a complete replacement — one that would be slightly taller and two bays longer than the structure already holding approval. Once this was understood, the proposal was found to be acceptable. The replacement building was to be finished to match the existing adjacent buildings on site, and the application was approved under delegated authority.
The application was approved on 18 March 2004 by the Director of Planning under delegated powers. The proposal was initially unclear from the submitted drawings, but once understood it became apparent that the plans showed a replacement building rather than an extension — slightly taller and two bays longer than the existing structure. This was considered acceptable as the replacement would be finished to match the adjacent buildings. The formal decision record lists 2 conditions.
