This application sought permission for a lighting scheme covering the car parks associated with the Colby AFC clubhouse and sports pitches, located south of the railway line off Station Road in Colby, Arbory. The site includes a recently constructed clubhouse, pitches, and car park accessed via a new road crossing the railway line, with mature trees and hedgerows along the western edge. The case officer recommended approval, and an amendment was put forward proposing additional tree planting along the southern side of the railway line. Despite this, the Committee refused the application. The reason for refusal was that the lamp columns would be an intrusive, urbanising feature in the countryside during the day, and at night the lighting would produce a glow that contrasts with the otherwise dark skies, causing harm to the character of the area.
