The proposed courts were to be laid out on a rectangular grassed area to the north east of the main college building group, situated north of an existing astro-turfed sports pitch and east of a structure housing a rifle range. The airfield associated with Ronaldsway Airport lies to the north and east of the site. The application was decided under delegated authority on 3 October 2008, with the case officer recommending approval.
