16 May 2007 · Committee
Heathfield Yard Patrick Street Peel Isle Of Man
The application asked to discharge a condition attached to an earlier approval (PA 05/00665) that required the removal of five large temporary storage containers from the open yard at Heathfield Yard, Patrick Street, Peel. The yard also contains a two-storey brick building and two rows of recently refurbished single-storey garage and storage units. The site sits within a predominantly residential zone under the Peel Local Plan and directly adjoins the Conservation Area boundary. Officers also noted that off-street parking is at a premium in Peel, and retaining the containers at the expense of usable garage spaces was considered contrary to road safety interests. The Planning Committee agreed with the officer recommendation and refused the application.
Removing usable off-street parking spaces in an area where such parking is scarce was considered contrary to road safety interests.
Peel Local Plan
The site is located within an area zoned as Predominately Residential Development in the Peel Local Plan (Planning Circular 6/89).
