1 February 2007 · Delegated
Isle Of Man Breweries, Britannia Hotel, 1, Waterloo Road, Ramsey, Isle Of Man, IM8 1dr
This application sought permission to reduce an existing chimney at the Britannia Hotel, Waterloo Road, Ramsey, and cap it with a power-assisted extraction fan. The hotel is a large detached building on a prominent corner plot at the junction of Waterloo Road, Peel Street, Chapel Lane, and Albert Street. The application was approved on 1 February 2007 under delegated authority. The officer's report identified that the works would reduce the chimney's visual impact on the street scene and have a positive effect on the nearby Conservation Area. Two conditions were attached to the permission.
The application was approved by the Director of Planning and Building Control under delegated authority. The proposal was considered acceptable because reducing the chimney height and capping it with a power-assisted extraction fan would lessen its visual impact on the street scene and have a positive effect on the Conservation Area.
