Grenaby Farm, Grenaby, Ballasalla, Isle Of Man, IM9 3bd
The application sought permission to extend Grenaby Farm, a former farmhouse on the western side of Grenaby Road (B41) in Malew, situated within undesignated 'white land' under the Isle of Man Planning Scheme 1982. This revised scheme dropped the garage block entirely and reduced the overall scale of the extensions. The officer considered that the applicant had successfully addressed the earlier concerns: the extensions, while still substantial, were judged to be better proportioned than before, and the omission of the garage block was seen as a positive change that would make the attractive farmhouse more visible. Four conditions were attached, including a requirement that external finishes match the existing building and that approved windows be fitted as sliding sash with external glazing bars.
The officer was satisfied that the applicant had addressed the Committee's earlier concerns, making the extensions acceptable in relation to the character of the existing farmhouse.
