Advertising Signage At Entrance To, Snugborough Trading Estate, Union Mills, Isle Of Man, IM4 4lh
This application sought permission to erect advertising signage at the entrance to Snugborough Trading Estate, Union Mills, which sits along the northern side of Peel Road southeast of Union Mills. The application was refused in July 2006. The decision-maker identified two main concerns: that additional signage at this busy junction could distract drivers and reduce road safety, and that the signage would be visually harmful when seen from the adjacent highway. A further concern was that granting permission would establish a precedent, making it harder to resist similar applications from other traders within the estate.
The application was refused on two grounds. First, the addition of advertising signage at this busy junction was considered likely to distract highway users and reduce road safety. Second, the signage would have a harmful visual impact when seen from the adjacent road and would set a precedent for further similar applications from other traders within the estate.
