Refusal Decision Notice
Town and Country Planning Act 1999
Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005
Corlett & Kinrade 1 Dale Street Ramsey IM8 1BJ
In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Order the does hereby REFUSE the following application made on behalf of:
Name: Mr & Mrs J Byrne Proposal: Construction of dormers on front and rear elevations at: 1 Barrack Lane Ramsey Isle Of Man IM8 1BE
which was considered on 20 January 2006, for the reasons set out below.
Date of Issue: 25 January, 2006
Murray House Mount Havelock Douglas
Secretary Planning Committee
Reasons For Refusal:
- The planning application is unacceptable by reason that:
a) the design and form of the proposed development is out of keeping with the character of the dwelling. As such the proposal represents an inappropriate form of extension that is detrimental to the visual amenity of the dwelling; b) the design and form of the proposed development neither preserves nor enhances the character of the Conservation Area that it is located within. As such the proposal is specifically contrary to Policy CA/2 of Planning Policy Statement 1/01, Policy and Guidance Notes for the Conservation of the Historic Environment of the Isle of Man; and c) an approval would set an undesirable precedent for similar extensions along Barrack Lane.
- This decision was made by the Director of Planning in accordance with powers delegated to him under Paragraph 2 (6) (b) of the Isle of Man Planning Scheme (Development Plan) Order 1982.
