Officer's Report
The site defined in red on the location plan reference A1 represents the footprint of part of Ballakissack Farm which is located to the north of the A5 Castletown Road as it passes through Ballavale.
The site is within an area designated on the 1982 Development Plan Order as Woodland within a wider area of High Landscape and Scenic or Coastal Significance. The site is accessed from the A5 by a lane which passes the former Santon Primary School which is now used by the Department of Education for training purposes.
Proposed here is the erection of a slurry silo. This is to be located on the eastern side of the farm lane and will be 12.2m in diameter and 3.6m in height finished in steel sheeting. The photograph of the silo indicates a dark green coloured finish. The tank is required to store the slurry before spreading over the agricultural land.
The silo will be located alongside existing farm buildings and some distance from the main road. I judge that there will be no adverse impacts from this proposed development.
There are no views on file.
