Ballacowle Farm, Lhen Road, Bride, Isle Of Man, IM7 4bq
The application (05/02022/B) seeks permission for the erection of an agricultural building/grain store together with concrete hardstanding at Ballacowle Farm on the Lhen Road, Bride. The site is described as being north of the Lhen Road and within an area of high landscape value and scenic significance. The building is proposed next to an existing group of farm buildings, which was considered generally acceptable as it limits visual intrusion in the countryside. The impact on the surrounding locality was described as fairly limited because the building would be positioned between other agricultural buildings of a similar size, and the concrete hardstanding would be within the farm complex and not readily visible from the surrounding area. The Department of Local Government and the Environment approved the application.
The Department approved the application for an agricultural building/grain store with concrete hardstanding. The decision was supported by the location within a farm complex and the assessment that visual and local impact would be fairly limited, including due to the building’s position alongside and between existing agricultural buildings. The site context was also taken into account given its high landscape value and scenic significance. The formal decision record lists 4 conditions.
