1 September 2005 · Delegated
Crofton, The Crofts, Castletown, Isle Of Man, IM9 1lw
Permission was granted for the installation of an electric meter box on the side elevation of 'Crofton', a dwelling on the eastern side of The Crofts, Castletown. The property sits within Castletown's Conservation Area, which meant the visual impact of any new external fixture required careful consideration. The meter box was proposed for the north-facing side elevation, positioned between bushes and behind a hedge. Officers noted that the siting was discreet and that the hedge should screen what little of the box might otherwise be visible from public view. The application was approved under delegated powers, subject to two conditions: that development commence within four years, and that the installation match the drawings submitted in July 2005.
The application was approved by the Director of Planning under delegated powers. The meter box was considered acceptable because its siting behind a hedge on the north-facing side elevation would screen it from public view, limiting any impact on the character of Castletown's Conservation Area.
Condition 1
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
Condition 2
This permission relates to the installation of an electricity meter box as shown in the drawings and plans received on 15th July, 2005.
