1 September 2005 · Delegated
Magic Carpets, Clock Tower Industrial Estate, Foxdale, Isle Of Man, IM4 3hf
Permission was granted for the erection of a two-storey carpet showroom extension at the Magic Carpet premises on the Clock Tower Industrial Estate in Foxdale, Isle of Man. The site already contained a warehouse and formed part of an established carpet showroom within an industrial area. Parking was the principal planning issue considered. The proposal included four new parking spaces at the south-western end of the site, which resolved earlier concerns raised by the Department of Transport. The officer noted that staff should not use spaces intended for customers, and that the overall parking level was acceptable when compared with other carpet warehouse operations. The application was permitted on 1 September 2005, with three conditions attached, and was decided by the Director of Planning under delegated authority.
The application was approved by the Director of Planning under delegated powers. A key consideration was parking: four new spaces were to be provided at the south-western end of the site, addressing concerns previously raised by the Department of Transport. The officer also noted that staff vehicles should not occupy customer spaces, and that the parking provision was considered satisfactory when compared with similar carpet warehouse premises.
