27 May 2005 · Committee
2, Perwick Rise, Perwick Road, Port St. Mary, Isle Of Man, IM9 5qa
The proposal amended a previously approved scheme (PA 02/183) at a residential property in Port St Mary. The works involved enlarging the existing integral garage, extending to the rear to form a family room, adding a bedroom above, and making minor alterations to the front elevation. The key issue raised during the process was the potential for overlooking from a window in the side of the garage, which concerned the neighbouring property. The applicant agreed to install obscure glazing at Level 3 or above on the Pilkington scale to address this concern. On that basis, the changes were judged acceptable and the committee granted permission.
The committee approved the application because the proposed alterations and extensions were considered acceptable in planning terms. The only material concern — potential overlooking from the garage side window — was resolved by the applicant's agreement to use obscure glazing at Pilkington Level 3 or above.
