Officer's Report

The site relates to Thie Eairy, Dandy Hill, Port Erin. It is a modest bungalow with flat roofed garage and is sited immediately to the north of Victorian Terrace which fronts onto Ballafurt Road. The bungalow has commanding views over Port Erin bay.

Works are proposed to provide additional site parking and make the structure sound. It was obvious from a site visit some months ago when the property was for sale that there are a number of serious cracks in the building and some ground slippage has occurred.

Works include:

Rebuilding of the seaward elevation; this is to be clad in white painted ship lap. This would be extended slightly further into the garden area. The gable facing the sea would be largely glazed.

Widening of the access in front of garage to form space for further off street parking. Part of the hedge would be retained. Construction of a chimney Formation of a faux balcony on the seaward gable on the upper floor complete with French doors from the attic area Refurbishment of attic area to form a bedroom and study Two replacement roof lights

The works would modernise and generally improve the appearance of this dwelling. The Highway’s Division has raised no concerns about the new parking areas and thus the application is considered acceptable.
