2 February 2005 · Committee
Unit 6, Gladstone Park Industrial Estate, Ramsey, Isle Of Man, IM8 2la
The application sought permission to convert an existing commercial unit at Unit 1A, Gladstone Park Industrial Estate, Ramsey, into a tyre and exhaust centre. The officer considered the principle of the use acceptable given that Gladstone Park is a recognised industrial estate, making this type of automotive servicing use compatible with the surrounding context. The Highways Division initially deferred comment pending clarification of customer and staff car parking arrangements, and the applicant submitted a plan identifying parking space to address this. No private representations were received. The Planning Committee approved the application subject to three conditions.
The officer concluded that a tyre and exhaust centre is an appropriate use within a recognised industrial estate and recommended approval. The Planning Committee agreed, granting permission with three conditions, which are likely to address the concerns raised about waste storage and car parking.
