Land Adjacent To Belmont Terrace Jurby Road Ramsey
This application sought permission to erect a four-storey block of 16 apartments with associated parking on land adjacent to Belmont Terrace, Jurby Road, Ramsey. It was a resubmission forming Phase Two of a wider development proposal. The application was refused by committee. The officer's report identified several planning concerns, including the over-intensive use of the site, the scale and massing of the proposed block being out of keeping with the neighbouring dwellings, and the undesirable nature of the resulting car parking area. While the officer noted that the height of the proposed building was broadly comparable to that of the existing adjacent dwellings, the overall scale and number of apartments were considered problematic. There was also concern about the limited nature of the submitted tree survey.
The application was refused by committee on 15 March 2005. The officer recommended refusal, citing over-intensive use of the site, a design out of keeping with neighbouring dwellings, and an undesirable car parking arrangement resulting from the scale and massing of the proposed block.
