The application sought retrospective approval for two VHF antennas already erected on the roof of Kings Court, a residential building in Ramsey, for use by 3FM radio. The officer initially found the submitted information insufficient for proper assessment, but further drawings were provided following discussion, and it was established that the development was not covered by statutory undertakings provisions. A considerable number of local residents objected, raising concerns about radio and television interference and perceived health implications. The officer advised that both issues fall outside the scope of planning consideration: interference is a matter for the Communications Commission, and health concerns of this nature are not a material planning factor. The Planning Committee considered the application on written evidence and granted permission with two conditions.
Once adequate drawings were submitted, the proposal was assessed on its planning merits and found acceptable.
Condition 1
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
Condition 2
This approval relates to the 1:1250 location plan, the 1:500 site plan, the block plan, the elevation plan and antenna specifications date stamped the 8th March 2005.
