DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Memorandum TO: Secretary to the Planning Committee FROM: Sarah Corlett, Planning Officer REF: PA 04/0987 โ conversion of outbuilding to three residential units and kitchen, party room and studio, Grenaby Farm, Ballasalla, Malew DATE: 1st October, 2004 CONSIDERATION OF AMENDED PLAN Planning permission was granted for the conversion of an outbuilding at Grenaby Farm to three residential units (to be occupied in association with the main dwelling) and additional living accommodation. Permission is now being sought for amendments to this scheme. The changes involve internal alterations, filling in of an external staircase (which improves its appearance), addition of an attached boiler room, addition of two more external staircases, retention of two windows as windows rather than doors as approved. None of these changes adversely affect the appearance or character of the building. One of the conditions of approval related to the style of windows and doors. The windows to be used are to be timber framed side hung windows, painted grey to match the Manx stone in the building. There is no indication in the condition how the windows should be โ no suggestion of glazing bars and as many of the openings used to be doors, they have opted for a simple single pane glazing style. There is attached the standard occupancy condition relating to the provision of water supplies and the commencement of works only once this supply is assured. This should be re-iterated in any letter confirming that the amendments are acceptable. Approved by PC 8/10/04. Add
