29 April 2004 · Delegated
90, Springfield Road, Douglas, Isle Of Man, IM2 1ed
Permission was granted in April 2004 for the erection of a safety fence on the golf course alongside 90 Springfield Road, Douglas. The fence, 20.5 metres long and set 1.3 metres from the side boundary of the end-terraced house, was designed to prevent golf balls from landing in the garden and hitting the dwelling. The development sits on the golf course rather than within the strict curtilage of the house, but was assessed in that context. It was intended to continue a fence already approved along the rear of the property, forming a more complete protective barrier. The application was decided under delegated powers and was approved with two conditions attached.
The application was approved by the Director of Planning under delegated powers. The fence was considered acceptable as a practical safety measure to prevent golf balls from landing in the garden and striking the house, and it extended an already-approved fence along the rear of the property.
Condition 1
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
Condition 2
This approval relates to the erection of fencing to match that along the rear of the houses, in accordance with the submitted drawings which are date-stamped 18th March 2004.
