Dear Ms Callow,
PA 04/00194/C Change of use to tourist accommodation, Flat 4, Highcliffe and Beachmount, South Promenade, Port Erin.
The proposal is for additional use of Apartment 4 as a self-catering tourist accommodation unit.
The applicant has had a full on-site advisory visit and is aware of registration criteria and the 1-5 Star Quality ratings standards for self-catering tourist accommodation.
The applicant has been advised to contact the Fire Safety Department re-compliance with the Fire (Flat) Regulations 1996. In addition, the applicant has been advised to contact Environmental Health re-meeting Health and Safety criteria.
A suggested layout for the apartment is an open plan kitchen/dining/living area at the front of the apartment. To the rear, there would be 3 bedrooms for up to 4 persons and a separate bathroom. It is noted that the apartment has been recently modernized and has double glazing and central heating.
It is considered that the application is in sympathy with current planning policy, specifically the Port Erin Local Plan, Planning Circular 12/90.
The apartment is in an elevated position with fine views over Port Erin Bay towards Bradda Head. The apartment is in an excellent location for both couples and families and close to the attractions of Port Erin.
The application is in sympathy with Registration and Grading Commission policy to encourage new quality tourist accommodation in traditional resorts on the Isle of Man.
In conclusion the Registration and Grading Commission fully supports the above planning application.
Yours sincerely
