Special Inquiry into PA03/1758: Creation of a new water treatment works and ancillary buildings, including access roads, parking and landscaping, Depot Site Homefield Road Douglas
Statement on behalf of the Planning Committee
Whilst this planning application is to be the subject of a Special Inquiry under Part I of the Town and Country Planning Act 1981, it had, until being referred to the Council of Ministers, been the subject of the usual procedures set out in Schedule 1 to the Isle of Man Planning Scheme (Development Plan) Order 1982.
Those procedures had been followed to the point where the Planning Committee, after making an initial decision, had received requests from local residents that this decision should be Reviewed.
In reaching its initial decision, the Committee had regard, inter alia, to a report from its Development Control Officer, Mr B Sinden. Within that report there was included a report addressing noise issues prepared by Mrs K Leslie, formally of the Department’s Environmental Protection Unit. Mrs Leslie now works for the Manx Electricity Authority, but has agreed, by arrangement with that Authority and the Department, to continue to assist the Department in this particular matter. A copy of Mr Sinden’s report is attached to this statement.
