Dear Jo,
Please note the following comments from Freshwater Fisheries:-
The proposed septic tank must not be connected to any watercourse or land drainage system and any proposed soakaway system must not be situated within 10 metres of any ditch or watercourse.
Construction must be a minimum of 8 metres from the watercourse to ensure some riparian habitat is retained to minimise disturbance to the watercourse and reduce the potential for river bank erosion.
As vehicles will have to access the site via a ford, adequate precautions must be in place to minimise the risk of disturbance to the river habitat and ensure there is no unnecessary erosion of the river banks.
Similarly, constant care must be taken to avoid the risk of a pollution incident occurring from harmful or damaging substances entering the river from the vehicles crossing on a regular basis.
Please ensure the track is a minimum distance of 8 metres from the watercourse and that there is no risk of run-off affecting the quality of the stream both during and after construction.
The River Neb holds significant numbers of juvenile and adult salmon, sea trout and brown trout and the proposed development must not have any unfavourable impact on these populations.
The proposed septic tank must not be connected to any watercourse or land drainage system and any proposed soakaway system must not be situated within 10 metres of any ditch or watercourse.
During construction there must be no surface run off from the site to the river, which may cause siltation.
The works must not at any time cause an adverse impact in terms of pollution or disturbance to the nearby watercourse or the bankside vegetation.
If there are any queries regarding these, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
Karen McHarg Inland Fisheries Development Manager
