The application sought permission to convert agricultural land and an existing barn at Ballakaighen Farm, Whitebridge Road, Onchan, into a facility for outdoor paintball games and indoor laser games. The Planning Committee determined the application and granted permission on 28 November 2003. The Committee noted that the barn was considered redundant for agricultural purposes, and on that basis indicated it would not expect any further applications for replacement agricultural buildings arising from the change of use.
The Planning Committee permitted the change of use, accepting that the barn was redundant for agricultural purposes and that the proposed leisure use was appropriate in that context. The Committee attached a note making clear it would not support future applications for replacement agricultural buildings on the site.
Condition 1
This approval relates to the use of the agricultural fields identified in red on the plan received on 10th July 2003 for paintball games and the use of the building identified in this drawing and in the site plan also received on 10th July 2003 for laserquest type games.
Condition 2
The use must be taken up within four years of the date of this notice in order for this approval to remain valid after that time.
Condition 3
Prior to the commencement of the use as approved, the access must be altered in accordance with the proposals approved under PA00/1761 and with the lowering of the roadside hedges such that visibility splays are available on the basis of 2.4 m $\times 215 \mathrm{~m}$ in each direction as shown in drawing reference $032 / 02$ received on 28 th October 2003.
