12 April 2012 · Delegated
St. Aubyn, 14, Selborne Drive, Douglas, Isle Of Man, IM2 3ls
Permission was granted for alterations, extensions, and the widening of the existing driveway at 14 Selborne Drive, Douglas, a part three and one storey Victorian detached dwelling situated on the corner of Selborne Drive and Tennis Road. The site sits within a Conservation Area, and the officer assessed three main issues: the effect on the amenity of nearby residents, the relationship of the proposed extensions to the existing dwelling, and the impact on the character and quality of the Conservation Area. The property benefits from substantial boundary hedging and trees that screen the ground floor from the highway. The application was approved on 12 April 2012 by a Senior Planning Officer acting under delegated authority, with three conditions attached to the permission.
The application was permitted by a Senior Planning Officer under delegated authority. The key planning considerations were the effect on neighbouring residents along Selborne Drive and Tennis Road, the relationship of the extensions to the existing Victorian dwelling, and the impact on the character and quality of the Conservation Area. The proposal was found acceptable on all three counts.
