Field 411363, Truggan Road, Port St Mary, Isle Of Man, IM9 5ld
This retrospective application sought permission to use two shepherd hut style glamping units at a field adjacent to Glendown Farm, Truggan Road, Port St. Mary. The units had been placed on the site but not in the exact locations where glamping pods had previously been approved; they were positioned further uphill and slightly closer to the western boundary. The main planning consideration was whether the location and appearance of the units caused any harm to the character of the surrounding countryside or to the living conditions of people in nearby properties. The officer recommended approval, and the committee agreed. Permission was granted with four conditions, taking into account that a previous approval for glamping pods on the same site already existed under reference 14/00800/B.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture approved this retrospective application. The key planning question was whether the shepherd hut style glamping units, placed in slightly different positions from those originally approved, had any adverse impact on the character of the countryside or the living conditions of nearby residents. The committee was satisfied that they did not, taking into account the earlier approval on the same site under reference 14/00800/B.
