Permission was granted for the additional use of a two-bedroom first-floor flat at 4 Holmes Court, Rowany Drive, Port Erin as tourist accommodation, alongside its existing residential use. The property is situated to the south of Port Erin Golf Club and has an associated garage to the rear. The main planning considerations were the potential impact on neighbours and local amenities, and the effect on the streetscene and neighbouring amenity. These were assessed and the proposal was found to be acceptable. The application was decided on 24 March 2023 under delegated authority, with one condition attached to the permission.

In Chapte r 7, there are described the circumstances in which redundant buildings in the countryside can be converted into dwellings. These policies apply equally to tourist use, except that it may very often be possible to convert to tourist use buildings which ar e too small to form a satisfactory permanent dwelling.
