Box vans / 3.5–7.5t vans (TELS fleet): collect consolidated WEEE from Snugborough and deliver to Unit 1. Skip lorry (typically 26t GVW hook/roll-on): exchanges internal metal and general-waste skips when full. Articulated curtainsider (up to 44t GVW): periodic export of bulked components under TFS to UK recyclers.
No public access for drop-offs; this removes ad-hoc car trips and on-site queuing typically associated with civic amenity/WEEE reception.
Given the enclosed, manual dismantling operation and consolidation of inputs from Snugborough, flows are modest. The following conservative ranges are proposed for assessment (to be refined post-mobilisation with logs):
| Movement type | Low (typ.) | Central case | High (peak ops) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Box van arrivals (from Snugborough) | 1 / day | 2 / day | 3 / day | Staggered AM/PM; unload inside; 15–30 min dwell |
| Box van departures | 1 / day | 2 / day | 3 / day | Return legs; same route |
| Skip exchange (HGV) | 1 / fortnight | 1 / week | 2 / week | Metal + general; loaded/sheeted indoors

Tels Ltd Doc 1 |
| Curtainsider export (HGV) | 1 / 8–12 wks | 1 / 4–6 wks | 1 / 3–4 wks | When sufficient TFScontrolled material is bulked |
Box vans are scheduled to avoid estate peaks; expected ≤2 vehicle movements in any peak hour (one in/one out), i.e., well below typical industrial thresholds. HGVs are pre-booked and managed by a banksman; arrivals targeted outside peak hours.
On-plot turning/queuing: The parking apron accommodates vans and single HGV movements without standing on the estate road. Manoeuvres are banksmancontrolled; reversing confined to the plot.
Unit 1 Kirby Farm-Planning Appl… Loading: Conducted inside (skips) or on the forecourt (curtainsider), with sheeting done before exit to minimise debris/drag-out. Housekeeping: Impermeable surfacing reduces track-out; periodic brushing and a “clean wheels” policy are applied when required.
Origin: TELS Snugborough Yard → Industrial estate access → Unit 1 (estate road). Scheduling:
Driver instructions: No idling; keep gates/visibility splays clear; adhere to on-plot 5 mph.
Banksman to control all reversing manoeuvres for HGVs and during busy periods for vans. Signage at the entrance and within the plot: “No Public Access / Trade Vehicles Only”. Pedestrian segregation: marked walkways between doorways and office/WC; highvis and lighting maintained. Spill prevention: internal handling on impermeable floors; sheeted loads; routine apron inspection. Record-keeping: delivery logs (date/time/vehicle type) to support post-permission monitoring.
The proposal involves no fabric alterations; any setup traffic is negligible (signage, racking, housekeeping) and occurs over a short duration.
The development does not introduce public trip generation and removes civicstyle car arrivals, since all material is transferred by TELS vehicles from Snugborough. Daily flows are low and managed, with very infrequent HGV movements (skip swap weekly; export monthly/bi-monthly). Given the industrial context, existing apron capacity, internal loading, and scheduled HGVs, the traffic and highway impacts are negligible and can be safely accommodated without changes to the estate road network.
Residual effect: Not significant in EIA/transport terms.
