Permission was granted for the erection of new permanent illuminated signage at 7–17 Wellington Street, Douglas, a multipurpose building adjacent to the main pedestrianised shopping street in the city centre. The building contains several independent businesses including a restaurant, retail stores, and leisure facilities. The basement area previously operated as a public bar and nightclub but has been vacant since 2020. The existing building was noted to have a somewhat tired appearance, with two existing signs on the frontage that the proposed advertisements relate to. The main planning issue assessed was highway safety. The application was approved on 3 December 2025 with two conditions attached.

General Policy 2

Condition 1
The advertisement(s) hereby granted consent shall be begun before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice. Reason: To avoid the accumulation of unimplemented advertisement consents.

The signs hereby granted consent shall not be lit by an intermittent source. Reason: In the interests of amenity in the area.
