AP250024 2590376B Owner of 82 Eary Veg Appeal Statement
Objection to Appeal Reference AP25/0024 I wish to lodge a formal rebuttal to the appeal by Manx Telecom (reference AP25/0024), concerning the refusal of planning permission for the installation of four telegraph poles to supply fibre communications to properties at 77–87 Eary Veg and 88, 97, 98, and 99 Cronk Liauyr, Tromode. Grounds for Objection
- 1. Impact on Visual Amenities: o The proposed installation of telegraph poles will have a detrimental effect on
the visual character of the area. The introduction of new overhead infrastructure will negatively impact the appearance of both Eary Veg and Cronk Liauyr, which currently benefit from unobstructed views and a cohesive streetscape. This visual intrusion is not in keeping with the established character and may diminish the enjoyment and value of neighbouring properties.
- 2. Failure to Utilise Existing Infrastructure: o There are existing supply conduits and infrastructure in place which could be
used to deliver fibre communications without the need for additional telegraph poles. The failure to make use of these pre-existing underground systems represents a missed opportunity to minimise environmental and visual disruption. The installation of new poles is therefore unnecessary and unjustified, given the availability of more sensitive alternatives.
In light of the above facts, which were accepted by the planning committee in making their decision to refuse permission, I respectfully request that, as Manx Telecom are unable to demonstrate that the views of residents expressed in the comments on the planning application are not valid, the appeal be refused and that any future proposals prioritise the utilisation of existing infrastructure to protect the visual amenities of the community.
