17 February 2009 · Committee
Warehouse & Shop, Lake Road, Douglas, Isle Of Man, IM1 5af
Permission was granted for the erection of an electricity substation on part of the former sawmill site on Lake Road, Douglas, Isle of Man. The application was a resubmission following an earlier refusal for a substation on the same site. The officer report noted concerns about the substation's visual appearance, specifically that it appeared discordant with the rest of the planned development and that the use of grey brick was a point of concern. A planter was proposed as part of the scheme, which was noted as potentially helping to break up the appearance of the structure. The Planning Committee approved the application, with two conditions attached to the permission.
