16 January 2009 · Delegated
Tree Archyn Heritage Centre, Bridson Street, Port Erin, Isle Of Man, IM9 6an
The application concerned the public toilets and bus shelter on the western side of Bridson Street, Port Erin. The existing building is a modest structure with pitched and flat roofing, and at the time of the application it had no disabled facilities and the bus shelter was inaccessible to wheelchair users due to a step at the entrance. The proposal involved a lean-to extension on the southern side of the building to accommodate a disabled toilet with a side access door, alongside a new ramp with railings to provide level access into the shelter. The officer assessed that the changes would have minimal visual impact on the building and that the accessibility improvements were to be welcomed. Permission was granted by delegated decision.
The officer concluded that the proposed extension and ramp would have minimal impact on the appearance of the building, while delivering a clear benefit through improved accessibility for disabled users.
