Permission was granted to change the use of the ground floor at 10 Water Street, Ramsey, from office or retail use to a fitness centre. The site is a two-storey town house located at the corner of Cannell's Lane and Water Street, to the south of Parliament Street. The application was decided on 12 January 2009 by the Acting Senior Planning Officer under delegated authority, in line with the officer's recommendation to approve. Four conditions were attached to the permission.

Environment Policy 35: Within Conservation Areas, the Department will permit only development which would preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the Area, and will ensure that the special features contributing to the character and quality are protected against inappropriate development. 7.30 Development adjacent to Conservation Areas 7.30.1 It is often the case that important views into and out of a Conservation Area can contribute significantly to its character. It is necessary to assess the impact any development adjacent to conservation areas may have on such views.
Condition 1
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
Condition 2
This approval relates to the submitted drawings Location Plan, 001-A and 001-C received on 24th October, 2008.
Condition 3
The use hereby permitted allows for the operation of the fitness centre at the site between the following hours (excludes public/bank holidays):- Monday to Friday 07.00 am to 20.00 pm Saturday to Sunday 10.00 am to 16.00 pm
Condition 4
No advertisement matter of any description shall be exhibited on these premises without the PRIOR written permission of the Planning Authority.
