The Site
The site represents the residential curtilage of an existing property which sits in the centre of a terrace of tall Victorian buildings which look towards Athol Glen. The property has a rear outlet whose roof is slightly lower than the main ridge. The rear lane is a cul de sac with garaging directly behind the application site.
Planning Status
The site lies within an area designated on the Port Erin Local Plan of 1990 as Residential.
Planning History
Planning permission was granted for the replacement of the windows under PA 02/0372.
The Proposal
Proposed is the installation on the rear pitch of a solar collector which will be 1.2m by 1.8m.
Representations
Port Erin Commissioners indicate that they have no objection to the application.

The collector will not generally be visible other than from a longer distance and even then, would be seen amid a roofstage of chimneys and rooflights from which, from a distance, the proposed collector would be indistinguishable.
The proposal complies with Strategic Plan paragraph 12.2.8 which supports the development of renewable energy sources.
PARTY STATUS
The Department of Transport and the local authority are, by virtue of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005, paragraph 6 (5) (c) and (d), considered "interested persons" and as such should be afforded party status.
