The site represents the residential curtilage of an existing detached property which lies on the eastern side of The Chase, within the built up estate of Ballakillowey. The property faces south west and is a long bungalow with a ridgeline length of 26m.
The site lies within an area of Residential use on the Arbory and East Rushen Local Plan.
Planning permission was granted for the extension for the property to provide a granny flat - PA 88/0975. Permission was granted for further extensions under PA 92/1717 and further extensions again under PA 94/0009.
Now proposed is the installation of solar tubing on the roof in the form of two 1500mm by 300mm panels side by side, one set on the front elevation and the other on the rear.
Rushen Parish Commissioners indicate that the application should be permitted.

ASSESSMENT The proposed solar collectors would comply with the general encouragement of renewable energy equipment, as set out at paragraph 12.2.8 of the Strategic Plan and there are no adverse visual or other impacts from the proposed panels.
PARTY STATUS The Department of Transport and the local authority are, by virtue of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005, paragraph 6 (5) (c) and (d), considered "interested persons" and as such should be afforded party status.
