20 August 2008 · Delegated
Croit Ny Meagh, Rhenab Road, Cornaa, Ramsey, Isle Of Man, IM7 1el
The proposal involved adding a modest single-storey flat-roof extension to the south west elevation of an existing detached garage at Croit Ny Meagh, Rhenab Road, Cornaa, to create a workshop. The site sits within land designated as High Landscape or Coastal Value and Scenic Significance under the Isle of Man Development Plan Order 1982, though it is not within a Conservation Area. The garage itself was previously permitted in 2001. The officer judged the extension to be very modest in size, fitting comfortably within the curtilage, with materials and finishes in keeping with the existing garage and dwelling. A nearby ash tree was assessed as unaffected, and no harm to neighbouring properties or the wider landscape was identified.
The extension was approved because it was considered modest in scale, compatible in materials with the existing buildings, and would not harm the dwelling, neighbouring properties, or the surrounding area of landscape significance. The nearby ash tree was found to be unaffected.
