Assessment
I have considered the content of the application with particular consideration to Policy RB/5 Alterations and Extensions to a Registered Building as set out in Planning Policy Statement 1/01.
The proposed are black cabinets that allow the display of notices and can be readily removed in the future if required. The use of the black and gold colouring, white 'Borough of Douglas' lettering and associated crest links with the other street furniture used by Douglas Corporation elsewhere in the town. The design of the cabinets is considered sympathetic to the character of the Market Hall and its Registered status and its location within the North Quay Conservation Area.
I recommend approval of this application.
Party Status
As set out in the Planning Officer's Report (08/00934GB)
