Officer's Report

ASSISTANT CONSERVATION OFFICER'S SUPPLEMENRAY REPORT The property in question is located on the corner of Hutchinson Square which is within the Ballaquayle Road Conservation Area which was designated in 2003. The proposed works have been considered in conjunction with the recommendations as outlined in Policy CA/2 in relation to Planning considerations and future developments within a Conservation Area in addition to Planning Circular 1/98. The preference of the Conservation Section being to retain/maintain the architectural character of the area.

From the photographic evidence submitted with this application, it is clear that a number of existing skylights have been installed to various properties already, none of which are original to the properties.

Given this proliferation of existing rooflights around the Square, it would seem acceptable in this instance. However, we would suggest that the rooflight should be conditioned to be a Heritage Style rooflight.

I therefore recommend approval of this application with the caveat over the specification of the rooflight.

I concur with the Assistant Conservation Officer's assessment in respect of the proposed rooflight. I therefore recommend that planning permission be granted subject to condition.

C 2. This permission relates to the installation of a rooflight as shown in drawing number 00430/1, 00430/2, window details, photographs date stamped 4th March 20008.

C 3. The rooflight shall be a heritage style rooflight.
