Re: Planning Application 08/00125 Creation of Private Riding Ménage at "Upper Garth", Garth Road, Crosby

The above Planning Applications was discussed at the Commissioners' meeting held on Wednesday last. The Commissioners discussed the proposal in detail and resolved to make the following comments:

• The Commissioners do not object to the principle of a Private Riding

Ménage.

• The Commissioners have concerns about the siting of the ménage so

close to the highway on grounds of safety and visual intrusion.

• The Commissioners have concerns about the lighting arrangements. They

see no need for powerful flood-lighting for a private ménage. There is concern that such lighting may create a distraction for users of the adjacent roadway and will certainly cause unwanted light pollution in a dark rural area. The Commissioners would wish to see a condition on any Planning Approval therefore which prohibits or, failing that, strictly limits the use of flood lighting.
