McCauley, M.R.T.P.I. Planning statement on behalf of the Department of Local Government and the Environment in respect of the erection of steel palisade security fencing. Jurby Industrial Estate, Unit 248, Jurby THE APPLICATION SITE The application site is within the Jurby Industrial Estate, Unit 248, Jurby. PLANNING POLICY The application site is within an area recognised as being an area Airfield, under the Isle of Man Development Plan Order 1982. The site is not within a Conservation Area, nor within an area zoned as High Landscape or Coastal Value and Scenic Significance. PROPOSAL The application seeks approval for the erection of steel palisade security fencing. REPRESENTATIONS The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service make no comment on the merit of the proposed development but request that an informative note be attached to any approval decision notice. The Manx Electricity Authority makes no comment on the merit of the proposed development but request that an informative note be attached to any approval decision notice. The Authority has received no privately written representations objecting to the application. ASSESSMENT / RECOMMENDATION The fencing proposed is the standard type of fencing found within most industrial areas, there are also examples of similar fencing within the Jurby Industrial Estate. I do consider however, that the proposed fencing should be colour coated as the proposed fencing when left as galvanised steel is not particularly attractive, and colour coating would be beneficial for the visual appearance of the area. Accordingly, I believe that the erection of the proposed fencing is acceptable and recommend that the application be approved. ## Conditions 1. The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice. 2. This approval relates to the proposed fencing as indicated in the submitted documents and drawing 4984-01 received on 23rd January 2008. 3. Prior to the erection of the fencing and gates, full details of the fencing and gates, specifying the colour of the fencing and gates, to be erected shall have been submitted to and approved in writing by the planning authority. Once approved the fencing shall be erected and colour coated in full accordance with the approved details. ## Notes 1.
