7 September 2007 · Delegated
7, Howe Road, Onchan, Isle Of Man, IM3 2bb
Permission was granted at 7 Howe Road, Onchan for the installation of a lantern roof and roof lights, and the creation of an office beneath the existing patio. The property is a large detached split-level bungalow with an attached double garage on the north side of Howe Road, in an area of similar properties. The officer's report identified three main planning considerations: the new office falls within the existing curtilage of the dwelling; the lantern light and roof lights do not overlook or impose on any neighbouring properties; and the proposals raise no concerns about the character of the dwelling given its history of extensions and development. The application was decided under delegated authority and approved on 7 September 2007, subject to three conditions.
The application was approved by the Director of Planning and Building Control under delegated authority. The new office space sits within the existing property boundaries, the roof lights and lantern light do not overlook neighbouring properties, and the proposals are consistent with the character of a dwelling that has already been substantially extended.
Residential
The site lies within an area designated by the Isle of Man Planning Scheme (Onchan Local Plan) 2000 as Residential.
