Refusal Decision Notice
Town and Country Planning Act 1999
Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005
Mr C D Duggan Ballavell Farm Grenaby Road Ballasalla Isle Of Man
In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Order the PLANNING COMMITTEE of the Department of Local Government and the Environment does hereby REFUSE the following application made on behalf of:
Name: Mr C D Duggan Proposal: Approval in principle for the erection of a farm workers bungalow at: Field No 432308 Ballavell Farm Grenaby Road Ballasalla Isle Of Man
which was considered on 8 March 2007, for the reasons set out below.
Date of Issue: 20th March, 2007
Murray House Mount Havelock Douglas (Signature) Secretary Planning Committee (Signature)
Reasons For Refusal:
- Since the labour requirement for the farm is three, and there are already on the farm three dwellings, the erection of a further agricultural dwelling is unwarranted; there is thus insufficient agricultural need to off-set the Department’s general policies in relation to new houses in the countryside.
- The proposed dwelling would not be sited as part of the existing group of farm buildings, and, as a consequence, would make an undesirable and unwarranted visual impact within the countryside, and would, in the fullness of time, be more easily severed from the farm.
This decision was made by the Planning Committee constituted in accordance with Article 3(1) of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005.
The decision contained in this notice does not become final until either;
- The time for requesting an appeal has expired; or

Whichever is the later.
