In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Order the Department of Local Government and the Environment does hereby REFUSE the following application made on behalf of:
Name: Taitnys Management Limited Proposal: Change of use of reading room to an office space at: Christian Science Church Woodbourne Road Douglas Isle of Man IM2 3AG
which was considered on 25 January 2007, for the reasons set out below.

Reasons For Refusal:
- The introduction of office use to this Predominantly Residential are would be
a) contrary to the land-use zoning on the Douglas Local Plan; and b) contrary to the Department's general policy of locating new office uses within the town centre and using the investment therefrom for securing redevelopment of the many town centre sites which are in need of such development.
- The proposed additional parking spaces would result in vehicles having to reverse on to the highway, and thus would be contrary to the interests of road safety.
This decision was made by the Director of Planning and Building control in accordance with the authority delegated to him under Article 3(13) of the Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005.
The decision contained in this notice does not become final until either;
- The time for requesting an appeal has expired; or
- Any appeal has been determined;
Whichever is the later.
Any appeal against this decision must be in writing and must be received by this Department within 21 days of the date of this notice.
