Application for Approval in Principle for the construction of a Science & Technology Park incorporating light industry, storage, internet hosting, data storage and other computer services on land at Ronaldsway Industrial Estate, Ballasalla, Malew, IOM.
Supporting Statement
This application represents the first stage towards the total regeneration of a predominantly redundant industrial estate in relatively open land near Ronaldsway airport. The proposed development will be part of a larger redevelopment of the existing factory units, to be the subject of other planning applications. The regeneration process will bring significant visual improvement to an otherwise unsightly development at the air gateway to the Isle of Man.
In addition to more conventional and light industrial and storage uses, the proposed Science and Technology Park will accommodate internet hosting and related computer service businesses for which suitable accommodation and infrastructure is not readily available elsewhere. The Isle of Man Department of Trade and Industry is supportive of the regeneration process in general and this proposal in particular.
