13 November 2006 · Committee
Field 312149, Brack A Broom Lane, Poortown, Peel, Isle Of Man, IM5 2ap
This application sought approval in principle for a farm workers dwelling and agricultural sheds at Field 312084, Ballakilmurray Farm, Poortown, Peel. The site is in the parish of German on the Isle of Man. The Planning Committee refused the application in November 2006. Although the loss of the former farmhouse and some of the farmland was acknowledged, the application did not show that a new agricultural dwelling was essential on the land at that point in time. Without that essential need being demonstrated, the proposal was found to conflict with planning policy covering new agricultural dwellings and residential development in the countryside.
The Planning Committee refused the application because the submitted information did not demonstrate that a new agricultural dwelling was essential on this land at this time. Without that justification, the proposal conflicted with planning policy on new agricultural dwellings and houses in the countryside.
