Officer's Report
The application proposes the conversion of a void area below first floor level to form additional living accommodation (study & en-suite) and an additional garage at 85 King Edward Road, which is a detached property within a residential area.
The existing use of the ground floor is used as a double garage, office and the hall way to the staircase to the first floor of the property.
The Onchan District Commissioners have considered the application and have no objection. The Fire Safety Department have recommended the installation of a mains wired interconnected domestic smoke detector. We have received no privately written representations objecting to the application.
The proposal would seem appropriate in this location and will put to good use a large area of space currently unused and will also provide an additional off street parking provision which should be encouraged. My recommendation is therefore for an approval.
