Officer's Report
The site represents the curtilage of Castle Rushen High School, located on the south western side of Arbory Road, designated as School on the Castletown Plan.
Proposed here is the installation of roof-mounted ventilation units on the school building. The various units are 1.5 by 1.5 and .85m high, 1.05 by 3.2 and 1.1m high and 3.1 by 1.35 and 1.17m high.
Defer for site visit to see how visible the units will be and whether there is any existing equipment there.
There is no equipment where that proposed here will be located. However there is plant to the right of this which is visible from the access drive. The proposed equipment will be visible but the impact will not be unacceptable bearing in mind the existing equipment close by and the pitch of the roof behind which may help absorb the impact of some of the equipment. I doubt there are other alternative locations for the equipment which would render it less conspicuous.
