Abbeystead, 84, Birch Hill Crescent, Onchan, Isle Of Man, IM3 3da
The application sought to extend the front porch of a detached bungalow on the northern side of Birch Hill Crescent to the left-hand side of the property, converting it into a small habitable room. The site forms part of the domestic curtilage of the property on Birch Hill's peripheral spine road. The officer considered the appearance of the extension unobjectionable and concluded that the fire safety concern could be adequately addressed through a planning note rather than by refusing permission. The Planning Committee agreed and granted permission subject to two conditions.
The Fire Prevention Officer's concern about means of escape was considered a matter that could be resolved through a planning note rather than by withholding permission. The Planning Committee, following the officer's recommendation, permitted the development.
Condition 1
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
Condition 2
This permission relates to the extension of the porch as shown in the submitted drawings received on 22nd March, 2005.
