Officer's Report

Conservation Officer'S Report:

King Williams College is registered (RB 185). This application seeks to carry out works to the Barrovian Roof and Clock Tower. The works are, in the main, of a repair nature and include:

1. Repair of the louvers to the Clock Tower.
2. Installation of insulation to Barrovian Roof.
3. Re-pointing of the Clock Tower.
4. Re-bed copings to the Clock Tower.
5. Re-new the cills.
6. Re-decorate the Clock Face.

Following a lot of correspondence with the Applicant’s Agent, we have been provided with the relevant information in the form of details of the works which are satisfactory and follow the minimal intervention route. I understand that the building has some fairly major problems with water ingress etc. and that these works are part of the program to alleviate these problems.

The Agent has a history of working on such buildings and is in general, more than competent at this type of work. RECOMMEND APPROVAL I have nothing further to add to Steve’s report above.

C 1. The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.

C 2. This permission relates to the repair of the louvres to the clock tower, the installation of insulation to the Barovian roof, re-pointing of the clock tower, re-bedding of the clock tower copings, renewal of the cills and redecoration of the clock face all as shown in the information and plans received on 17th February, 2005, 24th October, 2005 and 27th October, 2005 and the louvre details dated 14th August, 2005.
