Former Railway Line From Ramsey Road Tunnel To Main Adit Of Laxey Mines Laxey
The application sought approval for the continued laying of new narrow gauge trackwork on the former mine railway trackbed at Laxey Mines, running from the Ramsey Road Tunnel to the Main Adit. This formed part of a broader, ongoing restoration programme for the Great Laxey Mine Railway. The works followed an earlier approval in principle under a previous application (PA 00/0721/A), making this a continuation rather than a new departure. The officer found the impact of the proposed development to be acceptable and considered the principle of the restoration to be something that should be supported. Permission was granted by delegated decision in April 2005, subject to two conditions.
The officer considered the principle of restoring the historic mine railway to be something that should be supported.
